A challenge

I'm starting a challenge today September 9, 2008 - Use this month's kit to create layouts, cards or projects and you're name will go into a drawing for.... an October kit!

To participate submit photos of your images for me to put up on the blog. I want to see what people are doing with these kits! You have until October 5th and my one of my boys will draw a random name on October 6th.

September layouts

I went out side the box with these Passport papers & embellishments. I dug out some BC (before children) Disney pictures to scrap more adult oriented pages.

You all know how I love alphabet stamps and these Making Memories stamps are fab (not included in kit) for titles. They ink up beautifully and leave a bold impression. I cut strips of papers to create a frame around the page, inked the edges with Distress Faded Jeans ink. The circle frame is from a Quickutz Cookie Cutter circle die.

More Quickutz circles and QK Aquarius alphabet diecuts that are in the kit.

Two cards using up scraps.

Most of my pages incorporate pieces of pattern paper on solid cardstock as the base. This lets me connect multiple pages in a scrapbook together without having to clearly state that the pages & photos are from the same holiday.

I cut off a strip from the "Stripe" paper to use it as a journaling block, to work with the pink purse I cut a strip of pink paper & scalloped the edges.

These pictures were taken during the Epcot Flower & Garden show hence the cut-out flower. I used a small section of the pom-pom ribbon as an accent to the title box. Notice how I have the picture on the left facing into the page, this show movement across the page.

September's kit

September kit will make you pull out those travel pictures.

A little sneak.

Tactile embellishments, I'm loving that red pom-pom ribbon/fiber stuff.

Some more May kit

I'm loving these kits, I'm using up the littlest bits of scraps.

Ds2 playing in the backyard as usual ...pantless. I cut some strips by hand to create a page boarder & cut 2 pieces of scraps to give a foundation to the photo. Stamped some bugs in VersaMark ink (tone-on-tone effect) to ground the title and used a Creative Cafe label to set the title.

I dug through my embellishment bins (sorted by colours) for buttons and using Glossy Accents & a splot of Stickles to glue down the buttons. I found that Stickles do not work to well on their own as glue, so adding Glossy Accents to the mix really gives buttons a staying power. (not the best pic)

Sticker letters - American Crafts felt Playroom & Doodlebug Loopy Lou Bon Bons, the owl is from my scrap bin (had for a few years). The journal stamp is an Autumn Leaves "For the record" stamped in Distress Brushed Corduroy.

August Layouts

This month kit will get you using those alphabet stamps that you have stored away. I had lots of fun playing with these papers, they are perfect for stamping, highlighting & cutting out letters. You will not have to worry about running out vowels again.

My sweet old bristly coated Beasley cat, he died almost 4 years ago at the age of 13 years. He was a crotchy old man from the day we found him in a cardboard box outside our front door. His momma made a home in the recycling bin the night before we found them.

This page used a sketch that had 3 pictures in a row but I didn't have 3 pictures so I choose the main photo & cut off the edge of the second photo to add to the right side.
I stamped the word Hike in VersaMark and filled in the space with the white Sharpie marker.

I cut out the center of blue scallop cardstock & used the circle as a mask. I tacked it down with removable HermeDots and using a Dabber (tangerine) to apply the paint working from on top of the blue circle outwards. Once the paint dried I went around the negative space with a white sharpie to hightlight the shape.

Using stamps and paper scraps help fill that alphabet void. Stamping your title to match your layout & use up some of those supplies.

I ran a few strips of double-stick glue across the page to stick a folded border strip to bottom of the photo. I just accordion folded the paper as I was applying it to the glue. A few rolls of the brayer and the paper is down for good.

Stamped a scroll frame & cut out the center to create a frame around the photo. Cut out some flowers, place the frame on the page and figure out the direct to page stamping spots. Stamp the flowers, glue down the cutouts and then pop-dot the frame off the page. I pushed brads through scrap pieces & cut into circles.

Close up the direct to page stamping using this month's flower stamp. I used black Memories Ink, my favourite black ink - a very wet & crisp ink.

This page was created using up scraps of paper, nothing goes to waste.
